U.S. stocks in the morning: U.S. stocks close out the quarter, the Nasdaq Q1 cumulative decline of 9.1%
U.S. stocks closed out the quarter and April on Thursday, looking back at the first quarter of 2022, with the Nasdaq still down a cumulative 9.1%, while the S&P 500 and Dow were also down around 5%, the first quarterly drop in U.S. stocks since 2020.
The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 1.54% on Thursday, after rising 3.4% in March and falling 9.1% in the quarter.
The U.S. Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 1.57 percent Thursday, after rising 3.6 percent in March and falling 5 percent in the quarter.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.56% Thursday, up 2.3% in March and down 4.6% in the quarter.
On the sector side, among FAANMG's six largest technology stocks, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) fell 1.56%, Meta (NASDAQ:FB) fell 2.41%, after a cumulative decline of 33.89% in the quarter, Nifty Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) fell 1.80%, after a cumulative decline of 37.82% in the quarter, and Google A (NASDAQ: GOOGL) closed down 2.10%, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) closed down 1.61% and Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) fell 1.86%.
